Dear Friends,

I am writing to you with a very exciting opportunity that I would like to share. This summer I will be traveling to Africa to volunteer with a non-profit organization and producing a documentary about my experience. I am looking for investors and donors to support this project and I am hoping you can help.

Four years ago I got involved with the television station at Lyons Township High School because I took the television production class freshman year. I have taken the tv production class every semester and have been an officer in the tv club for all four years. This amazing experience has helped me define my future as a documentary filmmaker and I will be attending Savannah College of Art and Design in the fall.

As I mentioned, this summer I will be traveling to Ghana to volunteer with Light for Children, a non-profit organization which provides support and care for HIV positive children. I will be teaching English in the school, planning and implementing sexual assault prevention workshops, rebuilding the website, as well as creating all of the new media for the organization. I will also be producing, filming, and ultimately editing a feature length documentary about my experience. I have already started pre production on this documentary and have established a website to let people know about the project- www.together-we-are.com

The costs for this volunteer trip and the documentary project are entirely my responsibility. I realized that I needed help to defray the costs and I thought that I could partner with investors and donors to create a mutually beneficial arrangement. My goal is to raise $5,000 to cover the costs of the trip and the documentary film. In return for investments and donations, I will credit all individuals and businesses in the film, on my website, and on my other social media outlets that I use to promote the film. Additionally, I intend to pursue screen time for my film on television and numerous film festivals.
