Brew Moon Fest Tonight Fundraising for Alzheimer’s
Palmer Place’s Steve Palmer’s creation kicks off in McCook at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday night as a celebration of beer, food, live music and charity fundraising.
The second annual Brew Moon Beer & Bands Fest will kick off at 5:00 p.m. tonight at The MAX in McCook. The brainchild of Palmer Place’s Steve Palmer, the event will raise money for Betty Love Alzheimer’s Charities while offering beer-tasting, food and live bands.
Conceived as both the ultimate party and a great charity fundraiser, Brew Moon is in its second year as a celebration of craft brewing and beer. Attractions will include samplings of 200 craft and import beers, home-brewing information, a Bags tournament from the Greater La Grange YMCA, and live shows from the bands Railroad Gin, Spare Parts and South of 80.
“We are excited and proud of the entrepreneurial spirit which has led to finer more artisanal beers and the way the market has expanded over the years,” said Palmer in a press release. “This event is a way to allow people to experience the variety and creativity of the brewers in a festival atmosphere while supporting a great cause—Alzheimer’s family support.”
The MAX facility, normally used for sports, will be completely converted into a beer-festival hall for the afternoon and evening, with an “outdoor-like” setting for the bands and beer garden. Organizers are hoping to make Brew Moon a regular annual event for the area.
“The idea was, wouldn’t it be awesome to get a stage in and make things look really great and have kind of like a Ravinia-like party in the western suburbs?” added organizer Charlete Vickery. “I guess Ravinia’s not the right word, because this is more rock and roll. More like Endless Summer.
Three levels of tickets are available: basic admission for $10, a tasting pass for $45 and a all-perks-included VIP pass for $90.
A free shuttle bus will be running from 4:00 p.m. to midnight between Palmer Place, Irish Times in Brookfield and The Max.
More information about the event is available at the official Brew Moon website.
