WSPD Blotter: Fireworks in Spring Rock Porta-Potty, Teens with Booze and Pot
Here's the Western Springs police blotter from Mar. 26 through Apr. 3.
Thursday, Mar. 29, 10:50 a.m.; Attempted Arson, Criminal Damage to Government-Supported Property: An unknown person intentionally lit "assorted fireworks" inside two portable bathrooms in Spring Rock Park sometime between 2:00 p.m. on Monday and 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, damaging the interior of the bathrooms. The cost of the damage was not estimated.
Saturday, Mar. 31, 1:36 p.m.; Burglary to Garage, Theft: Someone reportedly entered an unlocked detached garage on the 4000 block of Wolf Road and stole a boy's bicycle sometime between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The bike's value was estimated at $290.
Sunday, Apr. 1, 11:46 a.m.; Residential Burglary, Criminal Damage to Property, Theft: An offender broke in through the rear door of a Commonwealth townhome on the 4900 block of Creek Drive sometime between 9:25 and 11:46 a.m. and stole several pieces of jewelry. The cost of the stolen jewelry was not estimated.
Monday, Apr. 2, 10:06 a.m.; Criminal Defacement to Property: Someone used white spray paint to deface a private dumpster on the 500 block of Hillgrove Avenue sometime between 12:01 a.m. on Friday and 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. The cost of the damage was not estimated.
Monday, Apr. 2, 12:21 p.m.; Retail Theft: An unidentified woman walked out of Dominick's with $212.16 in unpaid-for alcohol. The shoplifter was described as being in her late 20's, white, with blond hair, wearing a football jersey and blue jeans.
Tuesday, Mar. 27, 6:54 p.m.; Possession of Cannabis, Possession of Alcohol by Minors: After receiving a report of a vehicle driving erratically, police stopped a car matching the description on the 4300 block of Johnson Avenue. The car contained six 18-year-old men: three from La Grange, two from Countryside and one from Western Springs; the Western Springs man was driving. After investigation, the driver was issued a local ordinance citation for possession of cannabis and all six men were issued local ordinance citations for possession of alcohol by a minor. (Please note: Patch does not print the names of persons issued local ordinance citations.)
Friday, Mar. 30, 11:59 a.m.; Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A 19-year-old Burr Ridge man was issued a local ordinance citation for consumption of alcohol after a "suspicious" car in which he was a passenger was stopped on the 3900 block of Hampton Avenue.
Saturday, Mar. 31, 2:16 a.m.; Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor, Failure to Wear a Seat Belt (Passenger): An 18-year-old Bensenville man was issued two local ordinance citations for consumption of alcohol by a minor and failure to wear a seat belt after an erratic car in which he was a passenger was stopped at the corner of Ogden Avenue and I-294.
Saturday, Mar. 31, 10:15 p.m.; Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A 14-year-old Western Springs girl was found intoxicated on the 4400 block of Harvey Avenue and issued a local ordinance citation for consumption of alcohol by a minor.
Sunday, Apr. 1, 3:20 a.m.; No Valid Driver's License, Improper Use of Registration, No Red Tail Lights: Jose E. Perez-Martinez, 46, of 7320 W. 58th St., Summit, was stopped at the corner of 55th Street and I-294 for lack of functioning tail lights and charged with driving without a valid license.
