Congratulations are in order for 58 members of the Lyons Township High School Business Professionals of America (BPA). Students recently competed in Regional contests and 42 qualified to compete at the State level. LT students performed extremely well in a variety of categories, including Banking & Finance, Keyboarding Production, Medical Office Procedures, and Database Applications to name just a few.

Winning BPA students qualified for state competition in multiple categories: 24 students will advance in individual events, another five students will advance in two individual events, five students will advance in one individual event and one team event, and 13 students will advance in a team event. LT earned 10 first place finishes, 12 second place finishes and six third place finishes.

The BPA state competitions will be held in February. The students are led and coached by business teachers Kimberly Gerken and Jennifer Steele.

Business Professionals of America is a national organization for high school and college students preparing for careers in business and office administration. The organization’s activities and program complement classroom instruction by giving students practical experience through application of skills learned at school. BPA contributes to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills.
