There’s Black Friday…and then there’s a day for the rest of us: Small Business Saturday.  These small businesses not only add to aesthetic of the town, they generate revenue and more importantly help employ your friends, kids & neighbors.   If you think it doesn’t matter, take a ride to small rural Illinois towns like La Salle or Peru.  In the 1990’s “Big box” stores decimated their shops leaving ghost towns in it’s wake.  Obviously time and commerce must march on but still,  both big and small business should be able to coexist. So when you see your neighbor coming home with another flat screen TV or lap top they (or the landfills) really don’t need, grab a cup of coffee and take a stroll into town.  This year, why not try buying something a little more personalized.   You’ll not only be giving a gift that will be more appreciated, you’ll be supporting the backbone of this country’s economy: small business!
