Playoffs: Lyons Township Faces Simeon Saturday Afternoon

The day and time of the Lions' first-round playoff game were announced Monday on the IHSA website.

Lyons Township football will begin what it hopes is a long 2013 playoff run Saturday with a first-round road game against Simeon at Chicago's Gately Stadium.

Kickoff between the No. 11 seed Lions and the No. 6 seed Wolverines is at 3:30 p.m.

The LT-Simeon matchup had been set over the weekend, but the day and time of the game was announced on the IHSA website Monday afternoon.

Lyons Township enters the playoffs with a 5-4 after a win over Proviso West in its regular-season finale Friday. The Lions finished 4-2 in the West Suburban Silver.

Simeon finished the season with six straight wins after an 0-3 start, according to HighSchoolCube News. They finished a perfect 5-0 in the Red Bird division of the Chicago Public.

Being a double-digit seed shouldn't worry Lyons Township. The Lions made a run to the 8A quarterfinals in 2012 as a No. 15 seed, knocking off Marist and O'Fallon in the first two rounds.
