Western Springs Police Sergeant Retires After 32 Years

Sgt. John Murray will be replaced by officer Daniel Albrecht.

Sgt. John Murray of the Western Springs Police Department officially retired Sunday after 32 years spent with the department.

Murray has served as a sergeant for the last 14 years.

"During Sgt. Murray's career, he proudly served in the Patrol Division and held various titles including Mobile Field Force Team, TASER Instructor, Field Training Program Coordinator, and was a 2007 graduate of Northwestern University's Center for Public Safety School of Police Staff and Command," a release from the Western Springs Police Department reads.

Murray's replacement will be Daniel Albrecht, who has served as an officer in Western Springs for more than 14 years. Albrecht has served as a patrol officer and investigator, and has served on the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Forces. 

Both Murray and Albrecht will be recognized during Monday night's Village of Western Springs Board of Trustees meeting at 7 p.m.
