Don Lamb, the designated driver for residents at Plymouth Place senior retirement community in La Grange Park, is a much-loved figure in the community for his affable nature and tremendous dedication, the Suburban Life reports in a profile piece.
According the paper, the 63-year-old Lamb has a one-hour commute each way from his home in Bradley, and clocks up to 150 more miles daily driving residents, but does it all with unflappable enthusiasm, friendliness and passion.
“I get a lot of joy here,” Lamb told the paper. “To drive by the town they lived in, for them to tell me their stories. I’ve gotten to know most people here. I love them and they love me.”
