Patch Roundup: Massive Damage from House Fire, Wildlife Center Saves Baby Owls

Also this week: a student battling a graft-vs.-host disease, an accused sexual assault in Lisle and the resignation of a man who has cut a town's meat for 40 years.

Check out that photo to the right. That is a gorgeous house. It should definitely not be on fire. Unfortunately, it is (or was at the time), and the result is going to be a staggering cost in damages. There's a nice little substory buried in there, though, as a minor hero of a neighbor smashed a window to allow two trapped dogs to escape. Go, hero neighbor!

And go wildlife center in the Batavia area, also animal-rescuers of the hour, for saving a pair of owlets, and actually placing them right back in their nest with mommy. Between that and the , it's been a pretty good couple of weeks for bird rescues in our west-suburban roundup.

My understanding was that the village only bought it so they could split the back yard off from theRead More main lot use the back lot for some kind of village use with the rec center and then sell off the house. The original lot used to go all the way back to the rec center.
