Arts, Schools LT Students Film Work Showcased at M.A.N.E. Event

Lyons Township's Media Arts Night of Entertainment film festival highlights comedy and a "Lost Generation."

Lyons Township High School proudly presented the Media Arts Night of Entertainment on May 20 in the North Campus Reber Center.  M.A.N.E. is a film festival created by Jamie Rey and Bill Allan to promote student's efforts in animation and TV production classes.  The films ranged from animation to music videos, experimental shorts, drama and comedy.

Most of the films were uplifting and lighthearted comedy.  Muffins battled kitchen utensils, detectives inspected hair samples to find out who clogged the toilet, and fruits and vegetables danced to Kool and the Gang’s Celebration.  Old school arcade games were also included in the festival, including Tetris, pinball, Frogger and other classic video games.

One of the more serious films was called, Lost Generation.  The video starts with teenagers saying things like, “Money will make me happy,” and, “Work is more important than family,” or “my generation is lost and lethargic.”

The film then rewinds everything it previously said and the actors declared that they are not interested in a quick fix society, happiness comes from within, they can change the world, and that there is hope for their generation.

The event ended with a goodbye to the 2011 seniors and various awards were presented to recognize outstanding work.
