Show Us Your Pink Pride in Western Cook County

Show your support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month by uploading photos of your and/or your family and friends supporting the cause.

Showing off your pink pride during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a favorite thing to do with survivors and supporters alike.

Thousands of hats, shirts, and other pink breast cancer items are sold in October. Millions of tiny pink ribbons are worn to support the cure for breast cancer and hope for many women.

Also, countless numbers of people show support of Breast Cancer Awareness by participating in fundraising events. Have you strapped on your pink running shoes for the Komen Race for the Cure? If a walk is more your speed, how about the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure? Have you joined a local support group? Joined efforts with other supporters to hold a fundraiser or night out?

Entries from the annual Pink Ribbon Art Contest will be on display through Oct. 31 at Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital, 5101 S. Willow Springs Rd. The works on display, created by children and adult amateur artists, all revolve around the theme of breast cancer awareness.

Find a bra that fits perfectly while also helping a good cause at Lane Bryant's Get In & Get Fit Bra Fit Event at the chain's Hodgkin's location, 9430 Joliet Rd. Forty cents from each bra and limited edition T-shirt purchased through Oct. 31 goes to the American Cancer Society.

Appearances Salon in River Forest is donating proceeds from its Donna Bella Pink Hair Strands and Pink Manicures throughout October to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Earlier in the month, the salon raised $1,000 during its Breast Cancer Event.

We want you to tell us your story in the comments below. How do you participate and show your pink pride in the community?

Don't forget to print out the image of the attached Breast Cancer Awareness ribbon to show your support! Post it in the window of your home or on a community bulletin board around town.
