Husband and wife team Bryan and Lisa Romane have always talked about being entrepreneurs and discussed the types of businesses they would like to own together. After working in the corporate world for many years, they decided to open up a business that would have a positive impact on the community.

Early in 2012, Bryan and Lisa came to the conclusion that home care was the field that they could both relate to and decided to pursue their dream together.

Bryan and Lisa are the proud owners of the ComForcare Home Care in La Grange. Bryan plays a key role in the marketing and daily operations of the business, while Lisa oversees the office.

Why did you choose the area you did?

Bryan and his wife Lisa started dating during their sophomore year at Lyons Township High School. After graduation, they both decided to pursue their Bachelor of Science Degrees in Accounting at Eastern Illinois University and then got married in 1990 after graduation.

Lisa began her accounting career for a major financial company downtown. After 3 years of working downtown, Bryan and Lisa started their family together and decided it was time for Lisa to leave her career and become a full time stay at home for their three children (Emily (now 19), Elise (now 18) and Anthony (now 14).

Bryan has worked in a corporate environment for over 22 years with an extensive background in Finance, Accounting, Product Line Management and Marketing. He collaborated with multiple Fortune 500 companies on restructuring activities with the attention to fine detail, while focusing on the big picture to improve the bottom line results for shareholders.

What does your business offer?

We are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and provide a wide range of personal services including: Grooming & Hygiene, Bathing & Toileting, Meal Preparation, Transportation/Errands, Medication Reminders, Safety & Supervision, Light Housekeeping, Companionship and Family Respite.

We were very impressed with the best in class standards ComForcare lives up to. For example, we offer a Free R.N. assessment with every case opening and our team is highly involved with each case from the opening to the closing of the case.

We pride ourselves on the quality assurance procedures we have put in place with our employees and clients. We mainly hire C.N.A.'s (Certified Nurses Aides) and all of our employees go through an extensive background check, drug tests and written tests prior to entering anyone's home. Our employees are protected by insurance and workers compensation.

What's something interesting about your business your customers might not know?

Our major reason for deciding on a home care company stemmed from their own personal experiences. Almost seven years ago, Lisa's father was only 65 years old when he suffered a catastrophic stroke. We saw firsthand the stressful toll that this took on the entire family.

Lisa's mother was fortunate enough to find an agency she could trust and hired a live-in caregiver to take care of her husband. Today, their caregiver lives with them six day a week to help take care of her father. Not only has the caregiver eased the burden off of the family, he has also allowed our father to remain in the comfort of his own home with one on one personal care.

The caregiver, Bob, quickly became a member of the family. Lisa's father is back to his daily routines he loves to do, prior to his stroke while being retired.  Every week, he visits his local hardware store and goes to his favorite restaurants with his good friend/caregiver Bob.
