3 Western Springs Runners Registered for Boston Marathon

Multiple explosions occurred near the finish line Monday afternoon. It is not known whether any local runners were among the injured.

Three people from Western Springs were registered to run the Boston Marathon, which was abruptly halted by multiple explosions Monday near the finish line.

The explosions happened around 3 p.m. Eastern time, about three hours after the winning runners crossed the finish line, according to the Associated Press (AP).

Two of the three runners from Western Springs finished the race before the explosions occurred, according to the marathon’s online results list. Patch does not know if any of them were among the injured. The runners include:

  • Matthew A. Villicana (finished 1:15 p.m. Eastern)
  • Rick Vogel (had not yet finished)
