Image Rhythm: Comics as Poetry, Comics as Design

Comics are often compared to film, though a comparison to poetry and design might be more apt. In this lecture Jessica Campbell will discuss the relationship between words, images and rhythm through historical examples drawn from cartoonists and comics theorists like Seth, Ivan Brunetti, Art Spiegelman and more. Campbell is a former staff member of the independent comics publisher Drawn and Quarterly, and currently an MFA candidate at the School of the Art Institute. Call 708-246-0520 to RSVP.
