Knitting Circle with Special Guest

KNITTING CIRCLE SPECIAL GUEST Audrey Thomas, Executive Director of Deborah's Place, will be a special guest at the April 24 meeting of the Knitting Circle of the Thomas Ford Memorial Library.  Beginning at 1:30 p.m., she will talk about the charity's work at the Library, 800 Chestnut Street, Western Springs. Audrey came to the Library's attention through Circle member Eva Hernandez-Thomas (no relation) who volunteers at Deborah's Place and brought its good works to the knitters' attention.

The mission of Deborah's Place is to break the cycle of homelessness for women in Chicago. To help, the knitters have made and are making hats, scarves and blankets; in appreciation, Audrey said, "You all made a difference and helped the women, so often forgotten, to feel cared for and warm--physically and emotionally."

In addition to hearing about Deborah's Place, Circle members will knit and chat from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on April 24 as they do on alternating Thursdays throughout the year.  To celebrate this event, Eva will bring in special snacks.  Circle members and anyone interested in hearing about Deborah's Place are welcome to this meeting and to all future meetings.
