Youth Sunday

On April 27, a blur of teenagers in gray t-shirts with one word on their hearts will annex the sanctuary and lead us in the ancient and sacred art of worship.  We hope it will be like performance art; not for the performers glory, but for every person at church and ultimately for the God we love.  We know it will be honest and genuine because the word on their hearts is: love.

What is God’s love? How is it different than the love I have for pizza? Is love more than the high five I give my best friend? What if its a really encouraging and much needed high five? How does my understanding and experience of love become transformed into something higher? In the Bible, one of the most powerful words for love that is used by Jesus in all four gospels, and by other writers throughout the New Testament is the Koine Greek word, agape.  This word for love is packed with energy and usually means something more than the way we might flippantly use a word like love.  After weeks of discussing their faith, the Bible and this kind of agape love, it means something special to our youth.
Please join us for a Youth Sunday where we all tweet #thisislove.
