October Home Sales in Western Springs Up 30 Percent Year-Over-Year

The number of homes sold in Western Springs in October 2013 was 30 percent higher than the number of sales in October 2012.

The 13 single, detached homes sold in Western Springs during October 2013 represented a 30 percent increase over October 2012, when 10 homes were sold, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe).

Western Springs sales were down from September 2013, when 15 homes were sold.

The median home price of sold Western Springs homes increased year over year, as well. The median price rose 24.7 percent from $380,950 in October 2012 to $475,000 in October 2013, according to the statistics.

In the wider Western Springs area, Forest Park experienced the most significant increase in sales over the same period last year (125 percent), with La Grange and Hinsdale. River Forest had the greatest percentage increase in median sale price, up 81.6 percent from October 2012 to October 2013. 

Overall, October 2013 sales in the Chicago suburbs were up 9.6 percent compared to the same time last year. The median sale price for detached homes increased 19.1 percent from the previous October, and the number of homes under contract rose by 17.4 percent
