Western Springs PD Receives 3rd Reaccreditation Award

The department was officially awarded the reaccreditation on Nov. 16.

The following is a release from the Western Springs Police Department:

Chief Pamela Church proudly announces the Western Springs Police Department has successfully completed a multi-year process designed to attain international law enforcement recognition by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA).

The department was officially awarded a third reaccreditation on Nov. 16, 2013 at CALEA's fall conference in Winston-Salem, NC. The Western Springs Police Department has been nationally accredited since 2004.

The CALEA accreditation process is an effective management model. Once implemented, it presents an agency's chief executive officer with a blueprint that constantly promotes the efficient use of resources and delivery of services, regardless of the size, geographic location, or functional responsibilities of the agency. The standard upon which CALEA's programs are based reflect the contemporary thinking and experience of public safety practitioners and researchers.

The Western Springs Police Department received this latest award after participating in a process that involved a significant commitment of personnel and other resources. The reaccreditation process took approximately 36 months in which every aspect of the department's policies, procedures, management, operations and support services were examined in great detail.

The CALEA accreditation process continues to be a tremendous benefit to both the Western Springs Police Department and to the community it serves.
