Lisa's Favorite Wines (Right now)

Wine for every occasion!

The first thing I do when I taste a new wine is throw it in one of three categories: Everyday drinker, weekender, or special event wine.

The everyday drinker is the wine that I would open on a Monday night for no other reason but to indulge in a glass to relax or pair with my dinner. This wine would be around $10 and would not need food but could pair when necessary.

The weekender is the wine that I choose specifically for my meal or I'm bringing it to a friends to share. This bottle is in the $20 range and if I'm sharing it's more of a palate pleaser.

The special event wine is chosen for a friend or family members birthday, anniversary, or any other celebration I can think of. There is no price limit since the best gift is something they would never buy for themselves.

My favorite everyday drinker right now is the Killer Red "Kiss Me Deadly Red" Blend. This blend of 51% Cab, 28% Syrah, and 21% Merlot is from Columbia valley and unbelievable for the price.

My favorite weekender for sharing wine is the 2009 "The Spellbinder" by Sleight of Hand Cellars. This a blend of 36% Cab Sauv, 29% merlot, 16% cab franc, 10% Sangiovese, and 9% syrah. Also from Columbia Valley, this wine reaches out to many different palates.

My favorite special event wine right now is the 2009 Hill Family Estate Cabernet from Napa Valley. When giving a gift to someone who I do not know thier palate, I always go for the Cabernet Sauvignon and this one is superb.
