Grand Avenue Preschool & Day Care hosts their first Annual Alumni Pot Luck Dinner!

Grand Avenue Preschool & Day Care hosts their first Annual Alumni Pot Luck Dinner!

On Friday, December 28, 2012, Grand Avenue Preschool & Day Care hosted a pot luck dinner for children who attended Grand Avenue's Day Care 15-20 years ago!  It all started when Gina Trimarco Piper contacted Grand Avenue's Assistant Director, JoAnn Buralli, via facebook and told her how much she and her kids miss Grand Avenue and their teachers.  JoAnn began contacting some of the former students that she and her then co-teacher, Mary Ryan, had during the summer via facebook.  Within just a couple of weeks, over 20 kids started facebooking back & forth that they would love to come back to Grand Avenue to see everyone.  Director, Mary Rizzardini said she would provide the chicken if everyone brought a dish so they could have a pot luck dinner in the gym just like they usually do every August to celebrate the end of the summer camps.

Kids and their parents all showed up and had fun reminiscing about their pot luck performances when they attended Grand Avenue's summer day care.  All of their old costumes were hung up around the gym and video tapes of their performances were playing on for them to watch.  Current teachers Melanie Kedzuch, Kathy McGannon and Therese Klaibor were also in attendance to relive the good old days!  They had some good laughs about how they use to look and some of their escapades back then.

It was also a thrill for the staff to see how their students had grown and what colleges they have chosen to go to or what careers they have chosen!  We'd like to think that they are all successful because of their early days at Grand Avenue.
