The Footwork Dance Ensemble and guest artists perform the evening of February 16th in Western Springs.

Featured guest performers include; Corey Nagel’s innovative Matrix Dance Improv company, the award-winning Steppin’ Out Dance Company, Hip Hop dancer and choreographer Audrea “Dré” Parsons, and the Alpha Phi Alpha step team.

The performances represent hundreds of training, choreography, and rehearsal hours. Dance styles include jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical and modern disciplines, with a focus on technique and artistry.

Connie Sweeney, Artistic Director of Footwork Dance Ensemble, expresses the ensemble’s mission to promote the art of dance. “This company gives the members, as well as the community, the opportunity to experience new aspects of the art of dance.”

For Junior Company member Sarah Tobin, being a member of the dance company is more than just hard work. “I enjoy Ensemble because I’ve made really great friends from different towns. We also get to learn and perform many different dance styles. It gives me the chance to show people how much I love to dance. “

Senior Company member Morgan Sides agrees. “Being a part of the dance company gives me a sense of working with a team. Dancing is a great escape from school, and I know these girls are there support me, no matter what.”
