1 DUI, 13 Seat Belt Citations Handed Out During Crackdown

There were also 27 speeding citations and six uninsured vehicle citations handed out in Western Springs during the Thanksgiving crackdown.

The following is a release from the Western Springs Police Department:

From Nov. 19 through Dec. 1, the Illinois Department of Transportation supported law enforcement to remind motorists to buckle up and not drive impaired—both day and night—during the combined "Click It or Ticket/Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" mobilizations. The Western Springs Police Department joined other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to reduce highway fatalities by cracking down on unbuckled motorists and impaired drivers.

During the Thanksgiving mobilization, the Western Springs Police Department issued 13 seat belt citations, 27 speeding citations, and six uninsured vehicle citations. It also charged two people with driving on a suspended or revoked license, and one with DUI.

The annual "Click It or Ticket" mobilization may be over in Western Springs, but that is no excuse to stop using your seat belt.

"Our officers are out all year long. If you or your passengers are caught not wearing a seat belt—day or night—you will be cited for the safety violations," Western Springs Police Department Chief Pamela Church.
