Armed Robbery Reported in La Grange

Armed robbery reported at Linnea Jewelry Thursday, Dec. 12.

The following message is from the La Grange Police Department:

A little before noon on Thursday, December 12, 2013 two men entered Linnea Jewelers, 23 S. Ashland in La Grange, IL.  The men announced a robbery and then gathered to the two store employees together.  Both suspects displayed handguns and obtained the keys to locked display cases.  They then began to remove the contents from the display cases which contained various objects such as rings, necklaces, earrings and bracelets.

The two men then exited the store and fled in a vehicle.  The store employees called 9-1-1 and described the two offenders and described their vehicle as well, including the direction of travel.  La Grange Police Officers responded and checked the surrounding area and the vehicle was located, unoccupied about 10 blocks away on a dead-end street.  It is likely that the suspects entered another vehicle to complete their getaway.  The getaway car left on the dead-end street by the suspects was a stolen vehicle from one of the south suburbs.

Neither store employee was injured; cash and jewelry were taken in this armed robbery.
