Truck Blows through Red Light, Injures 2

A freight liner ran a light, striking a car occupied by two women and a baby and running over its front corner.

Two Hillside women, 50 and 25, were injured after a freight liner ran a red light and drove over the front corner of their Chevy Impala at the intersection of Ogden and Gilbert avenues about 4 p.m. Friday, police said. A baby boy who was also in the car was not injured.

Police said Mohamud Dirir, 23, of Saint Paul, MN, made a left turn onto Ogden as the light turned red, striking the Impala and driving over the front corner with the truck's back tires.

Dirir was charged with two counts of disobeying a traffic signal and making an improper turn. The women were transported to La Grange Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
