Knife Found Near Scene of Disturbance, Car Strikes Floyd's: La Grange Police Blotter

TUESDAY, JAN. 22

Car Hits Floyd's

A car crashed into a window at Floyd’s Barbershop on the 0-100 block of South La Grange Road at around 5:58 p.m. No one was injured in the accident.

Teen Missing

An 18-year-old man was reported missing since Monday from the 200 block of Sawyer Avenue. Police are still trying to make contact with the teen.

Felony Disorderly Conduct at LT North

A 17-year-old Brookfield boy was charged with two counts of felony disorderly conduct at 11:30 a.m. for making two violent threats against a fellow student while on the Lyons Township North Campus grounds on Jan. 17. (Police said that there was no furtherance of a crime, no student safety was compromised, and are crediting the high school with full cooperation and with taking threats very seriously.)

Car Window Smashed

A resident of the 200 block of South 9th Avenue reported at 8:19 a.m. that the driver’s side window of his vehicle had been smashed. Nothing was taken from the car, and it is unknown if the damage was intentional or not. The damage was estimated at about $200.

MONDAY, JAN. 21

Parking Garage Graffiti

An officer found gang-related graffiti on the steps between the main and second floor of the parking garage on the 0-100 block of 6th Avenue. Additional graffiti, apparently romantic, was found on the southeast stairwell.

SATURDAY, JAN. 19

Blade Found After Disturbance

A disturbance was reported on the 0-100 block of South La Grange Road at 6:45 p.m. involving several kids loitering with skateboards. No arrests were made, but a 4-inch long knife was found near the scene and confiscated. There was no definite indication that the blade was involved in the altercation.

A Loose Bear?

A 22-year-old female complainant reported at 9:15 am. that some of the men at the B.E.D.S. shelter had been harassing her in the shelter and taking photos. She also told an officer about a “loose bear” at one of the La Grange shelters.

FRIDAY, JAN. 18

House 'Ransacked'

A complainant from the 900 block of 6th Avenue reported at 4:33 p.m. that his deceased roommate’s family had just come and “ransacked” the house for the roommate’s belongings before a will had been read. Police referred the complaintant to a civil lawyer.

Debit Card Fraud

The Western Springs Police Department forwarded a case file regarding possible fraudulent activity on a Bank of America debit card. The case is still under investigation.

THURDSAY, JAN. 17

Suspicious Phone Calls

A caller on the 100 block of Spring Avenue reported at 4:55 p.m. receiving a series of suspicious phone calls. Police are investigating the calls.

Kid Brought Cap Gun to School

An officer was dispatched to Spring Avenue School to talk with a third-grade boy who had brought a cap gun to school “to scare someone” on Monday. The boy is currently suspended.
