Forgery Charges after Attempt to Cash Stolen Check: La Grange Police Blotter

La Grange police reports, Feb. 6-13.


Cyberbullying I

A resident reported to police a case of cyberbullying at 3:41 p.m. The case is under investigation.


GPS Stolen

A resident reported that a Garmin GPS and a phone charger were taken sometime between 8:10 a.m. and 6 p.m. from his unlocked car parked on the 100 block of North La Grange Road. The victim did not wish to pursue the matter.


Illegal Driver

Dennis S. Colon, 42, of the 7100 block of Sawyer Avenue, Chicago, was stopped at the corner of 49th Street and La Grange Road and was charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license, police said.

Fight at Church

A physical fight between a 55-year-old Maywood man and a 53-year-old man was reported at First Congregational Church at 7:40 a.m. The men were escorted from the church. No charges were filed.

Men Flee Through Yards

La Grange and Western Springs police arrived at a “disturbance” at the corner of Gilbert and Bell avenues at 1:42 a.m. Several people fled from the scene through neighboring yards. Three 20-year-old men were eventually given rides home, saying they’d been looking for a party. No charges were filed. 


Car Window Smashed

A car parked in the 6th Avenue parking garage had its rear window damaged by an unknown object at around 5:25 p.m. (A caller around the same time reported that teens throwing snowballs in the area had accidentally damaged a car.) The value of the damage was not estimated.

Arrests for Attempt to Cash Stolen Check

Alan E. Laudonckas, 28, of the 5900 block of Franklin Avenue, La Grange Highlands, and Abigail R. Boyd, 22, of the 2700 block of Northwest 5th Street, Cape Coral, FL, were each charged with one count of forgery after attempting to cash a stolen check at the Bank of America at the corner of 47th Street and Gilbert Avenue at 12:25 p.m., police said. The defendants were taken into custody at the scene. Police said the check had been stolen a few days earlier. The amount of the check was not disclosed due to an ongoing investigation. 


Cyberbullying II

A complainant reported a case of cyberbullying at 7:14 p.m. The case is under investigation.

Man Tries to Evade Cops

Police took an 18-year-old Brookfield man into custody for attempting to flee from/elude police at 3:07 p.m. after a traffic stop at the corner of Bell Avenue and Ashland Avenue. The man was issued multiple citations; police did not specify.


iPass Transponder Stolen

A complainant from the 800 block of South Spring Avenue reported at 5:45 that his vehicle’s iPass transponder had been stolen and replaced with an alternate one at an unknown time between last April and now. The value was estimated at about $50.

Solicitor Ticketed 

Police issued a citation to a 24-year-old man for illegal solicitation on the 700 block of Stone Avenue at 4:54 p.m.


Graffiti was reported at 4:48 p.m. on a sign at the corner of 6th Avenue and 49th Street. The graffiti was not gang-related.
