LaGrange PD Promotes Lieutenant to Deputy Chief

Renee Strasser, a 25-year veteran of the department, was appointed to her new post Monday.

The LaGrange Police Department has a new deputy chief as part of the agency's restructuring.

Renee Strasser was promoted from lieutenant to the deputy chief position during a ceremony Monday, the Chicago Tribune reports. The new title, however, doesn't come with a pay hike, the report added.

Strasser has been with the department for 25 years, starting as a patrol officer, the report stated.

Strasser's promotion is part of the department's efforts to create a "better, more lean operation," the report stated. Originally, the department had three lieutenant positions that now have been consolidated into the deputy chief role, the report added. Before her promotion, Strasser was the only lieutenant employed by the department at the time, according to the report.
