Man Sets Fire to Hospital Restraints

Police charged Richard Lee, 52, of Chicago, with property damage after he set fire to two hospital restraints and a bed sheet at Oak Park Hospital about 2 a.m. He was processed and released on bond.

Man Hides Pot in Mouth During Traffic Stop

Police charged Kenneth Davis, 38, of North Riverside, and Dhafir Bounds, 37, of Oak Park, with marijuana possession about 11:10 a.m.

During a traffic stop near the intersection of Harlem Avenue and I-290, police said Davis had a plastic bag full of pot in his mouth and a cigarette box containing the drug. Each was issued a local ordinance citation. Police said the men had a total of about 3.5 grams of marijuana with them. They were released from the scene.

Man Gives Middle Finger in McDonald's

An Oak Park man known for panhandling at McDonald's was arrested after he gave a man the middle finger around 8:30 a.m.

A caller told police Michael Barnett, 48, goes into McDonald’s on a regular basis and has had a history of pan handling in the store and threatening employees, police said. Barnett was processed on one count of disorderly conduct, given an Oct. 1 court date and released on bond.

Herds of Kids Gather Outside Cossitt School

About 30 kids were throwing rocks and climbing on cars in the area of the Cossitt School parking lot around 7:52 p.m., police said. Most of them were not on Cossitt property. Police sent the kids on their way without incident. Herds of kids were also reported near the back gate of Cossitt around 8:08 p.m., around Harris and Ashland at 8:55 p.m. and on the sidewalks outside Cossitt around 10:27 p.m.

Customer Spits on Trader Joe's Floor

A customer got into a dispute with employees at Trader Joe’s around 12:46 p.m. and spit on the floor as he left, police said. He was gone by the time officers arrived.

Gypsy Shooed from in Front of Trader Joe's

A woman who self identified as a gypsy denied panhandling in front of Trader Joe’s around 7:23 p.m., police said. She and two other subjects were sent on their way.
