Nearly $13K in Debit Card Fraud Reported

Criminal Damage to Fire Department


Two letters on the north facade of the Western Springs South Fire Station were removed by an unknown person during an unknown time frame, police said. 

The removal of an "O" and an "S" from the building in the 5500 block of Grand Avenue caused minor damage to the siding. The letters, police said, are 4 inches by 12 inches. They were reported missing at 2:31 p.m.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 3

Debit Card Fraud


Police said a resident from the 4900 block of Wolf Road reported at 4:47 p.m. that an unknown person obtained his or her personal debit card information and with it purchased four items with it worth $12,790.

The fraudulent purchases took place between Sept. 1 and Sept. 3.
