Pedestrian Stuck and Killed By BNSF Train in LaGrange

66-year-old man pronounced dead at the scene after being hit by a train Tuesday evening near LaGrange Stone Avenue train station.


A BNSF commuter train struck and killed a male pedestrian between in LaGrange  around 7:25 p.m. Tuesday.

The pedestrian was struck by BNSF line train no. 1287 between the Stone Avenue train station in LaGrange and the track construction in Hinsdale. 

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office gave the man’s age as 66 years old. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:38 p.m.

Trains between Aurora and LaGrange were stopped for about 90 minutes, but were moving through the area again by 9 p.m.

The man’s name is not being released pending notification of his family. The medical examiner’s office said the accident did not appear to be intentional.

LaGrange Police would not comment on their investigation.
