Police Blotter: $1500 Fraud, Even More Dominick's Theft

Here's the Western Springs police blotter from Feb. 14 through Feb. 22.

Incidents/Reports

Tuesday, Feb. 15, 5:18 p.m.; Theft: Someone stole an iPhone (valued at $500) from a secured locker at Lyons Township High School South Campus sometime between 7:45 a.m. and 3:05 p.m.

Tuesday, Feb. 15, 7:14 p.m.; Theft: An unknown person stole a men's bicycle (valued at $50) locked to a bike rack near the Western Springs Train Station (the corner of Hillgrove Avenue and Grand Avenue) sometime between 6:41 a.m. and 7:14 p.m.

Saturday, Feb. 19, 9:32 a.m.; Identity Theft: A report from the 3900 block of Forest Avenue stated that an unknown person created a fraudulent checking account using a resident's information and made several purchases from Jan. 28 to Feb. 2 totalling $1,568.34.

Charges/Citations

Monday, Feb. 14, 2:11 p.m.; No Valid Driver's License, Improper Use of Registration Sticker: Pedro Lopez-Rivas, 40, and Cesar Lopez-Graciano, 20, both of 5700 Longview Ave., Countryside, were stopped at the corner of 55th Street and Wolf Road after an officer noticed a disabled vehicle being pushed by a second car, obstructing traffic on 55th Street. Both defendants were charged with driving without a license; Lopez-Rivas was also charged with improper use of a registration sticker.

Wednesday, Feb. 16, 10:34 p.m.; DUI Alcohol, DUI B.A.C. of .08+, Speeding: Maria Maloney, 51, of 5700 Longview Ave., Countryside, was stopped for speeding at the corner of 55th St. and Laurel Avenue (in La Grange Highlands) and was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Friday, Feb. 18, 3:52 p.m.; Retail Theft: Susan J. Momsen, 57, of 941 S. 8th Ave., La Grange, was arrested for exiting the store attempting to steal $115.15 in Dominick's merchandise.

Saturday, Feb. 19, 6:46 p.m.; Retail Theft: A 36-year-old Chicago woman was issued a local ordinance citation after altering a price tag on an item and attempting to exchange it for $22.66 in store credit.
