Incidents/Reports

Monday, May 9, 2:30 p.m.; Theft: Someone stole a 3-foot by 10-foot business advertisement banner valued at $250 from the Garden Market Shopping Center sometime between May 5 and May 9.

Monday, May 9, 3:48 p.m.; Debit Card Fraud: A report from the 1400 block of 49th Court had an unknown person using a victim's debit card to fraudulently withdraw $403 on May 5.

Thursday, May 12, 7:47 a.m.; Criminal Damage to Government-Supported Property: Someone intentionally damaged and broke a drinking fountain in lower Spring Rock Park at some point over the winter (between late November and late April.) The value of replacing the fountain is approximately $3,605.

Friday, May 13, 9:50 p.m.; Residential Burglary, Theft, Criminal Damage to Property: An unidentified man forced his way into a home on the 4900 block of Woodland Avenue and fled after encountering the homeowner inside. There was no violence. The burglar took a woman's purse with $30.

Saturday, May 14, 8:51 p.m.; Criminal Damage to Government-Supported Property, Leaving Scene of a Property-Damage Crash: Someone hit a stop sign at the corner of 51st Street and Caroline Avenue and left the scene without making a proper report.

Monday, May 16, 9:15 a.m.; Theft: Three cell phones were stolen from unattended bags in the girls' locker room at Lyons Township High School South sometime between 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m..

Charges/Citations

Tuesday, May 10, 2:33 p.m.; DUI Alcohol, Illegal Transportation of Alcohol, Improper Parking on Roadway: Jennifer M. Ortega, 29, of 144 Enclave Cr., Bolingbrook, was charged with DUI after officers found her in the driver's seat of a car improperly parked in the roadway on the 3900 block of Hampton Avenue. The defendant had slurred speech, smelled of alcohol and failed sobriety tests.

Thursday, May 12, 9:33 a.m.; Arrest Warrant: Alberto C. Limias, 21, of 4443 Joliet Ave., Lyons, was arrested at the Western Springs Police Department on an outstanding arrest warrant for a traffic violation.

Friday, May 13, 3:30 p.m.; No Valid Driver's License: Javier Paz-Sanchez, 20, of 13130 W. 142nd St., East Chicago, IN, was involved in a minor vehicle accident at the corner of Ogden Avenue and Grand Avenue and found to be driving without a valid license.

Saturday, May 14, 1:52 a.m.; Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: Eight defendants were issued local ordinance citations for consumption of alcohol by a minor on the 4300 block of Western Avenue. They included an 18-year-old Western Springs woman, a 19-year-old La Grange Park man, an 18-year-old Countryside woman, an 18-year-old Brookfield man, two 17-year-old Brookfield boys, a 17-year-old Stickney girl and a 17-year-old Phoenix, AZ boy.

Monday, May 16, 8:18 a.m.; No Valid Driver's License, Disobeyed Railroad Signal: Patricia A. Cuellar, 38, of 5440 S. Kenneth Ave., Chicago, was stopped for violating a railroad signal at the corner of 42nd Street and Wolf Road and found to be driving without a valid license.
