Police Blotter: Speeder with Bong, 13-Year-Old 'Net Bully

Tuesday, Aug. 31, 12:22 p.m.: A backpack was stolen from a locker room at Lyons Township High School sometime between 3 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. on August 30th. The backpack contained several personal items valued at approximately $270.

Tuesday, Aug. 31, 5:14 p.m.: While the owner of a home on the 100 block of 51st Street was in the backyard with an unidentified man, someone entered his/her house through an unlocked door and stole $300 off of a table. The home was empty at the time of the theft.

Friday, September 4, 8:51 a.m.: Sometime between midnight and 8 a.m., an unknown person stole approximately $10 in change from two unlocked vehicles in a driveway on the 4300 block of Prospect Ave.

Tuesday, Aug. 31, 9:15 p.m.: Tina M. Wolfe, 31, of 2705 Clarence Avenue, Berwyn, was stopped at the corner of Ogden Avenue and Johnson Avenue for speeding and for having a suspended registration. Her licence was also found to be suspended, and a pipe for smoking drugs was found in the car; she was arrested.

Thursday, Sep. 2, 2:05 p.m.: Winnetta M. Shorts, 48, of 10136 State Street, Chicago, was arrested at the corner of Ogden Avenue and Route 294 after a random registration check showed she was driving with no insurance and a suspended licence.

Thursday, Sep. 2, 8:45 a.m.: A 13-year-old boy was arrested at the Western Springs Police Department after police confirmed that he had sent a number of harassing messages to someone over the Internet.

Friday, Sep. 3, 11:08 p.m.: Four people were arrested at the 4600 block of Wolf Road after being discovered with alcohol in an address that was reported as vacant. Thom V. Kackison, 22, of 6020 W. Greene Street, Bay St. Louis, MS, and James T. Powell, 12323 Lower Bay Road, Bay St. Louis, MS, were charged with unlawful delivery of alcohol to a minor; Elizabeth E. Carambat, 18, of 418 Waveland Avenue, Waveland, MS, and Alyssa P. Hennessey of 4612 Wolf Road were charged with possession of alcohol by a minor. All defendants were also charged with criminal trespass.

Friday, Sep. 4, 10:00 p.m.: Phillip J. Franta, 20, of 9713 Lorraine Drive, Countryside, was arrested at the 5400 block of Wolf Road after an officer smelled marijuana smoke wafting from a moving vehicle. The man was charged with possessing drug paraphernalia.

Saturday, Sep. 5, 12:23 a.m.: Laurentio Ortiz-Garcia, 32, of 321 Ferndale Drive, Round Lake Beach, was stopped for speeding and charged with driving without a valid license.
