Serial Hair-Salon Robber Prompts WSPD Alert

The robberies have occurred in the north and northwest suburbs, fairly far from Western Springs or La Grange, but have nonetheless incited a cautionary warning from police.

A series of hair-salon robberies in the north and northwest Chicago suburbs, apparently all committed by the same man, has prompted a business crime alert to area salons from the Western Springs Police Department.

Though none of the robberies are from Western Springs, La Grange or any of the near surrounding communities, nearly a dozen salons in north- and northwest-suburban strip malls have been hit by the robber.

The suspect is described as being white/Hispanic, 30-45, between 5’7” and 6” tall, 200-230 lbs, “wearing a black or dark colored jacket, blue jeans, sunglasses during the day, a grey or dark colored knit cap, dark gloves, gray or blue gym shoes (with stripes), a scarf covering his face (black and tan), unshaven, and carrying a small black backpack or bag.”
