Slew of Western Springs Car Accidents Reported

SUNDAY, DEC. 15

Disobeying Stop Sign


John J. Raftery, 82, of the 800 block of North Waiola Avenue, La Grange Park, was cited for disobeying a stop sign at the intersection of Hillgrove Avenue and Wolf Road, police said, after his 2008 Dodge Caravan traveling westbound on Hillgrove hit a 2007 Chevy Malibu traveling northbound Wolf at 9:38 a.m.

The driver of the Malibu suffered a minor injury. Both vehicles were damaged.

SATURDAY, DEC. 14

Too Fast For Conditions


Jose Montoya, 34, of the 4500 block of Sunnyside Avenue, Brookfield, was cited for driving too fast for conditions after his 2006 Chevrolet Colorado crashed into a utility pole near the intersection of Ogden and Harvey avenues at 5:34 a.m., police said. 

No injuries were reported. The truck was damaged.

FRIDAY, DEC. 13

Too Fast For Conditions


Juan C. Cayetano, of the 2600 block of South Karlov Avenue, Chicago, was cited for driving too fast for conditions after his 2011 Kia rear-ended a 2008 Toyota Sienna that had slowed to a stop on westbound Ogden Avenue near Harvey Avenue at 9:11 a.m., police said.

After the initial collision, a 2009 Toyota Camry traveling behind Cayetano struck the rear of his Kia. No injuries were reported. All three vehicles were damaged.

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 11

Failure to Yield


Rebecca L. Metz Mavon, 42, of the 3100 block of South Linden Avenue, Western Springs, was cited for failure to yield at 5:43 a.m., police said, after she turned her 2014 BMW X5 left from northbound Wolf Road to westbound Ogden Avenue in front of a southbound 1998 Honda Accord, causing a collision to occur. 

No injuries were reported. Both vehicles were damaged.

Failure to Reduce Speed


A 16-year-old male juvenile from Western Springs was cited with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, police said, after his 2012 Jeep Liberty rear-ended a 2002 Subaru Impreza that had slowed to make a left turn from westbound 47th Street near Harvey Avenue at 5:57 p.m.

No injuries were reported. Both vehicles were damaged.

TUESDAY, DEC. 10

Failure to Exchange Information


Cathy M. Hillier, 62, of the 300 block of Park Avenue, Clarendon Hills, was cited for failure to exchange information at the scene of an accident, police said, after she hit with her 2007 Toyota Matrix a 2011 Ford Expedition parked in the 4200 block of Howard Avenue at 4 p.m., continued driving, and then returned after a witness followed her and advised her to go back. 

No injuries were reported. Both vehicles were damaged.

Failure to Reduce Speed


Jacqueline M. Schmit, 37, of the 1700 block of West Olive Avenue, Chicago, was cited with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after she rear-ended with her 2010 Subaru Forester a 2009 Ford Escape that had slowed to a stop on northbound Wolf Road near Burlington Avenue at 4:48 p.m., police said. 

No injuries were reported. Both vehicles were damaged.

MONDAY, DEC. 9

Failure to Yield


Mikayla Auerswalkd, 19, of the 2500 block of Springdale Drive, Rockford, was charged with failure to yield after she struck with her 2002 Ford Windstar a 2002 Dodge Durango while turning left from northbound Gilbert Avenue to westbound Ogden Avenue at 9:35 p.m., police said. 

No injuries were reported. Both vehicles were damaged.
