Western Springs Biker Hit by Car in La Grange

A 26-year-old Village woman was hit at the corner of Maple Street and Brainard Avenue.

A bicycle ridden by 26-year-old Western Springs woman was hit at Maple and Brainard avenues at about 5:17 p.m. Nov. 3 by a 2011 Ford Fusion driven by a 60-year-old La Grange Park woman, according to an item from the blotter.

The bicyclist refused transportation to the hospital. No tickets were issued.

The bicyclist said she was riding west on Maple and halted at the stop sign at Brainard for the right-of way. She entered the intersection and was hit by the southbound vehicle, whose driver said she had not seen the bicycle.

Police said the intersection is poorly lit with only one street lamp activated, on the southwest corner.
