Teen Church Graffitist Caught, $1,000 Athletics Theft: Western Springs Police Blotter

SUNDAY, NOV. 11

$1,000 of Athletic Stuff Stolen

Someone entered an unlocked car parked in a home driveway on the 4500 block of Harvey Avenue sometime between 5:00 p.m. on Thursday and 10:00 a.m. on Sunday and stole $1,000 worth of athletic equipment, police said. The theft was reported at 3:45 p.m.

Local Teen 'Artists' Nabbed

A 15-year-old Western Springs boy, a 15-year-old La Grange Park boy and a 14-year-old Western Springs boy were arrested at 4 p.m. at the Western Springs Police Department and charged in connection with multiple graffiti incidents. The 15-year-olds were charged with criminal trespass to property and criminal defacement of property for entering a vacant commercial property on the 4400 block of Wolf Road and defacing the interior with spray paint, as well as for defacing Western Springs Park District property in Spring Rock Park, police said. The 14-year-old was charged with spraying graffiti on a church on the 5100 block of Wolf Road as well as on Park District property in Spring Rock. The dates of the incidents were not specified in police reports.

DWLS on Ogden

Colleen Hallaway, 36, of the 0-100 block of 57th Street, Clarendon Hills, was stopped for speeding at the corner of Ogden and Johnson avenues at 9:41 and charged with driving with a suspended license, police said.

THURSDAY, NOV. 8

$54 Fraud

Someone used the personal checking account of a victim on the 3900 block of Western Avenue to purchase $54 in retail services sometime between Oct. 1 and Oct. 11. The fraud was reported at 9:59 p.m.

Pot at LT South

A 15-year-old Western Springs boy was arrested at Lyons Township High School South Campus at 8:20 a.m. and charged with possession of a small amount of cannabis, police said.

TUESDAY, OCT. 6

Hillgrove Hit-and-Run

A car struck a parked car at the corner of Hillgrove and Lawn avenues and left the scene without notifying police or the owner of the car. The incident occurred between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.
