SUNDAY, AUG. 19

Rock Breaks Window in Park District Building

Someone broke a ground-floor window in the Western Springs Park District's maintenance building on the 4400 block of Central Avenue with a rock between 5 p.m. Aug. 18 and 10:45 a.m. Aug. 19.

Rear Window Broken on Car

A car parked in a designated commuter parking space at Burlington Avenue and Central Avenue had its rear window damaged by an unknown object sometime between 12 p.m. and 11 p.m.

SATURDAY, AUG. 18

Man From Dallas Gets DUI

Michael S. Bell, 45, of the 4500 block of Livingston Avenue in Dallas, TX, was arrested at 1:14 a.m. at Hillgrove Avenue and Howard Avenue after he was found to have a blood alcohol level of more than .08 percent, police said. An officer said he stopped Bell after he disobeyed a stop sign and observed that Bell had glassy eyes and smelled of alcohol. Bell was arrested after failing field sobriety tests and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and issued a citation for disobeying a stop sign, according to the police report.

FRIDAY, AUG. 17

Playground Equipment Damaged

Playground equipment was damaged at Spring Rock Park on either Aug. 16 or Aug. 17. The damage is estimated at $500.

Multiple Citations Issued to Chicago Ridge Woman

Nancy M. McGrail, 47, of the 10300 block of south McVicker Avenue in Chicago Ridge, was arrested and issued citations for not having a valid driver's license, no insurance and speeding at 1:15 p.m. on the 5000 block of Gilbert Avenue. Police said McGrail was stopped for speeding on Gilbert Avenue and a subsequent search of records found she did not have a valid license and was not covered by insurance.

Accident Leads to Arrest

Jacqueline Ford, 55, of the 1800 block of Karlov Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 3:12 p.m. at Ogden Avenue and Woodlawn Avenue. Police said Ford failed to reduce her speed to avoid an accident when she struck another vehicle from behind that was waiting to turn left into Bemis Woods. A records search by police found she was driving with a suspended license.

THURSDAY, AUG. 16

Minor Busted for Alcohol Consumption

A 17-year-old Western Springs resident was arrested for consumption of alcohol by a minor at about 10:27 p.m. on the 4500 block of Central Avenue. The teen was in a Western Springs park and was found to have consumed alcohol earlier in the evening, police said.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 15

Bike Stolen

An unattended men's bike that was locked to a public bicycle rack at Burlington Avenue and Grand Avenue was stolen sometime between 7:45 a.m. and 7:45 p.m.

TUESDAY, AUG. 14

Cicero Woman Arrested for Theft

Sherry A. Kane, 42, of the 4900 block of Roosevelt Road in Cicero, was arrested at about 11:09 a.m. for theft after a resident called police to report a theft had occurred at a home on the 5100 block of Fair Elms Avenue. The resident told police Kane took pieces of furniture without the owner's consent. The stolen items' value was estimated at $862.

MONDAY, AUG. 13

No Valid Driver's License

Anna Harvey, 47, of the 2900 block of George Street in Franklin Park, was arrested at 8:14 a.m. at Wolf Road and Elm Street for driving without a valid driver's license. Harvey also received a citation for disobeying a stop sign.
