Woman Flees Crash, Faces DUI Charge: Police

The driver rear-ended a car that was waiting at the traffic light at the corner of 47th Street and Gilbert Avenue in Western Springs, police said.

A Brookfield woman who police said fled the scene of an accident Feb. 4 must answer to DUI charges after Western Springs officers caught up with her a mile-and-a-half from the crash.

Stephanie S. Gose, 40, of the 3600 block of Grand Boulevard, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol at 5:35 p.m. after her car struck another vehicle waiting at the traffic light at the corner of 47th Street and Gilbert Avenue, police said.

Gose's car rear-ended the other car, which was stopped at the traffic light facing eastbound on 47th Street, according to the report. Gose drove away from the scene and was later arrested at the corner of Gilbert Avenue and Plainfield Road in La Grange Highlands, police said.

Gose was also charged with leaving the scene of a property-damage accident, driving without proof of insurance, illegal transportation of open alcohol and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
