WSPD Blotter: 'Hoboland' Drinking Party Busted, Park District Windows Smashed

Monday, Jun. 4, 7:24 a.m.; Criminal Damage to Government-Supported Property: Someone intentionally used an unknown object to damage three windows of the Western Springs Park District maintenance building sometime between 10:00 p.m. on Sunday and 7:24 a.m. on Monday. The cost of the damage was not estimated.

Charges/Citations

Friday, Jun. 8, 2:22 p.m.; No Valid Driver's License, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid Accident: Jose Carranza-Barriga, 34, of 4826 N. Talman Ave. Apt. 1B, Chicago, was involved in a crash on the 3800 block of Grand Avenue. No injuries were reported from the crash, but the defendant was arrested for driving wtihout a driver's license.

Friday, Jun. 8, 6:40 p.m.; Criminal Damage to Government-Supported Property: A 31-year-old Downers Grove woman was issued a local ordinance citation after "intentionally caus[ing] damage" to a stretcher owned by the Western Springs Fire Department while being transported from Bemis Woods due to a medical emergency. The cost of the damage has not been estimated.

Friday, Jun 8, 11:55 p.m.; Possession of Cannabis, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: An 18-year-old Western Springs man was issued two local ordinance citations after being stopped at the corner of 48th Street and Fair Elms Avenue for illegal screeching of tires and being found in possession of a glass bong and a small amount of suspected marijuana.

Sunday, Jun. 10, 10:28 p.m.; Consumption of Alcohol by Minors: Eight 17-year-olds were issued local ordinance citations after police caught them in possession of alcoholic beverages under the 47th Street overpass at I-294 ("Hoboland.") The defendants were three La Grange boys, one La Grange girl, one Western Springs girl, one Willow Springs girl, one La Grange Park boy and one Cohaset, MA boy.
