WSPD Blotter: Sticky Fingers, Tee-many Martoonis, and Crossing the Line

Wednesday, May 9, 6:54 p.m.; Retail Theft: Laura M. Bennefield, 26, of Lockport, Ill., was charged with retail theft after a follow-up investigation confirmed she had stolen some items at a local Dominick's on April 2, 2012.
Saturday, May 12, 3:00 a.m.; DUI and Traffic Violation: Frank E. Messino, 42, of the 4500 block of Wolf Road in Western Springs, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage. Reports said Messino was stopped for the traffic violation and was observed by the arresting officer to be glassy-eyed the officer smelled a strong odor of alcohol. Messino was arrested after failing a series of field sobriety tests, the report said.
Sunday, May 13, 11:45 a.m.; Violation of Order of Protection: Michael Madonia, 54, of Summit, Ill., was arrested after an investigation confirmed he violated an active order of protection during an incident on May 9, 2012. The report states the altercation occured near 51st Street and Gilbert Avenue in Western Springs and that no physical interaction took place. A bond hearing was set.
