What will be your single most important priority if you get elected?: My single most important priority will be to ensure our students continue to receive the best education from the best teachers. From a fiscal perspective, this will involve developing measures that enable District 101 to adequately absorb future changes in state and federal government fiscal policies without affecting existing school programs or requesting sacrifices from our exceptional teachers. From a curriculum perspective, this will involve helping District 101 prepare for Common Core.

Why are you seeking office?: Education is very important to the future of our children and country. Consequently, I want to be involved in local education policy. As a graduate of Laidlaw Elementary, McClure Junior High, and LT, I want to help ensure future generations receive the same excellent education I enjoyed. With sons attending Laidlaw and my Lyons Township Community Advisory Council tenure coming to a close, the timing is perfect to become a District 101 Board member.

What sets you apart from the other candidates (if applicable)?: My tenure as a member and co-chair of the Lyons Township Community Advisory Council (LTCAC) which exposed me to numerous local, state and federal educational policies as well as enabled me to interact and work with local school administrators; my experience successfully founding and operating a law firm; my experience serving on boards of civic, professional and property organizations; my 18 years in Western Springs; and my desire to further the excellence of District 101.

What are the other issues you plan to address in this position, and how?: Although many additional issues exist, bullying and school safety represent two issues I intend to address. As to bullying, our schools need to continue to address and cope with the dynamics of bullying, particularly cyberbullying; educate parents; and, implement a program considering the needs of all parties involved. As to school safety, it is paramount that schools conduct a safety audit and thereafter implement unobtrusive measures that will provide a very safe and secure environment.

Please add any other information pertinent to your campaign: I look forward to serving as a District 101 School Board member and giving back to the school district and community that provided me with the education, resources, and opportunities that laid the foundation for my personal development and professional success.
