Village Completes Water Treatment Plant Repairs

Repairs to damages from a July 31 incident have been completed. Village expects to finish Clean-in-Place process in the next couple days.

Public Works crews in Western Springs have finished repairing the inside of the water plant after a July 31 incident that damaged equipment in well #4, according to a message from the Village of Western Springs.

Crews brought treatment equipment for well #4 back online Thursday, and is going to distribution, according to the village.

"Start up was slightly delayed from this morning because the system had to be purged of air before reestablishing output through the LPRO system," the message states.

During a cleaning cycle last week, the Well #4 booster pump displayed an error, and the booster pump was correctly shut down to examine the issue, according to the village.

"Somehow, this caused one of the valves on the Well #4 discharge line to close and create a deadhead in the pipe which resulted in the blowout of a section of pipe in the basement of the RO plant."
