LT Sports Roundup: Gymnasts Excel at Homewood-Flossmoor Invite [VIDEO]

The Lyons Township varsity boys gymnastics team finished second at Homewood-Flossmoor's Spring Classic Invitational while the sophomore team easily captured its second invite title this season.

The Lyons Township varsity boys gymnastics team took second at the five-team Homewood-Flossmoor Spring Classic Invitational Friday.

The Lions (123.90 points) finished behind defending state team champion Lincoln-Way co-op (147.95) while beating Mundelein (111.40), Andrew/District 230 co-op (95.60) and the host Vikings (94.55).

The Lions’ Chris Rediehs was third in all-around (47.65) and was a top-five finisher on five of the six events. Dan Gallagher (38.65) and Jon Brandt (37.30) were fifth and sixth in all-around.

Rediehs was second on parallel bars (8.25) to Lincoln-Way co-op’s Ajani Cargle (9.35), third on floor exercise (9.3), horizontal bar (7.3) and pommel horse (7.8), fifth on vault (8.8) and sixth on still rings (6.2).

Gallagher was fourth on horse (7.6) seventh on horizontal bar (5.8), eighth on floor (7.2), 10th on vault (8.05) and tied for 10th on rings (5.1). Brandt was sixth on vault (8.5) and parallel bars (6.5), seventh on horse (5.7) and ninth on rings (5.3) and horizontal bar (4.6), and Tim Findley was 10th on floor (7.0).

On the sophomore level, LT scored 109.55 points to easily win its second straight invite in a row by 19.50 points over second-place Lincoln-Way co-op.

LT’s Dave Bielski (39.15) and Noah Mennemeier (36.90) were first and second in all-around.

Bielski also won floor (8.1) and horizontal bar (6.3), Mennemeier won horse (7.6) and Will Gallucci won rings (6.5).

Among other top-five finishes, Bielski was third on horse (6.2) and rings (5.2) and fourth on vault (7.75) and parallel bars (5.6), Mennemeier was second on vault (8.0), parallel bars (5.8) and rings (5.7) and fifth on horizontal bar (3.4) and Xavier Barry (5.1) and John Janas (5.0) were fourth and fifth on horse to give the Lions four of the top-five finishers on that event.
