Lyons/York Thriller Runaway Favorite for 'Game of the Year'

Halfway through the CN100 voting, the match has over three times as many votes as its closest competitor.

When Patch first wrote that the epic was up against four others for CN100's high-school football "Game of the Year," was "way in last place, but a force of votes could turn that around."

Did it ever!

From last place with only 1.7 percent at the time, LT has soared to now holding 63.9 percent of the votes. The nearest competitor, Joliet Catholic's late-game heroics over Carmel, is stuck at a paltry 18.4 percent.

In the thriller upset against the offensive powerhouse York, which went back and forth down to the last second, Lions rookie junior kicker Jake Elliott shocked the home crowd by delivering a  through the uprights as time expired, just six days after  from 52 yards.

The winning game will be subject to a special broadcast on the Comcast CN100 network in late November.
