Photo Gallery: West Suburban Band Plays Springdale's 'Concert in the Park'

Residents of the Springdale neighborhood of Western Springs flooded into their park to finally enjoy a concert that has twice before been called on account of rain.

The last two years, Springdale has seen its Concert in the Park event rained out—but the skies were clear and the temperatures balmy on Thursday evening as the West Suburban Band played for a healthy-sized assemblage in .

The event was organized by the Springdale Civic Organization and attracted both older residents and families with kids. Early on in the concert, the band played an assembly of Civil War songs, a Sousa march and a sax-centered piece called "Saxophobia."

A "guess-the-number-of-balls-in-the-jar" contest was held, and a local resident passed out free Italian ice.
