Statewide Firearm Ban

Moves Forward in IL!

Legislation Advances to Senate Floor for Debate and Possible Vote Today!

HB 815 amendment 1& 2  and HB1263 amendments 5 & 6  were approved along party lines (Democrats supporting, Republicans opposing) and passed out of the Senate Public Health Committee last night. Both bills now proceed to the full Senate for a floor debate and vote, possibly as soon as today.

If passed the bills would ban most all semi-auto handguns, rifles, and shotguns as well as pump rifle and shotguns.  The proposed legislation would also close down most shooting ranges and clubs that are open to the public or conduct events open to the public. Included in the legislation is a ban on ammunition magazines with a capacity to hold more than 10 rounds, a requirement to register all guns and magazines with the Illinois State Police.

We cannot allow Chicago politicians to spread Chicago's disregard for the Second Amendment and their outrageous treatment of law abiding gun owners to the rest of the state.

Call your IL State Senator NOW and urge him/her to vote no on HB 815 and HB 1263!  Call Senate President John Cullerton and let him know you do not appreciate Chicago-style gun and range bans being forced on the rest of the state! Be polite but firm!

This is a direct copy/paste from a pro-gun website (Illinoiscarry.com) and while that in and of itself is not necessarily bad, using the blog function here to post such plagiarized content verbatim with no citation of the source is. I see "Tom Koz" has done the same thing multiple times here on Patch.

Tom Thanks for the heads up. I will call my legislator and ask him politely to vote yes for all gun laws that you've just mentioned. While gun ownership is a constitutional right, my right to pursue happiness is an inalienable right and should not be infringed on by law abiding citizens like the gun owners in Conneticut.

Tom I too would like to thank you for the heads up. I have urged my representatives to vote against the subject bills. While I support sensible and reasonable gun laws, the bills appear to be over broad in my humble opinion.
While I agree with Frank that our right to pursue happiness is inalienable, as a responsible and law abiding gun owner, I feel compelled to point out that a law abiding gun owner did not commit the crimes in Connecticut that Frank is referring to. A thief and a murderer who was mentally disturbed committed those horrible acts. I hope that Frank and every other member of our community urges our representatives to support laws that prevent crime while not putting responsible law abiding gun owners in the same category as criminals who somehow manage to gain access to firearms regardless of what laws are passed. I keep wondering how Chicago had more than 500 murders in 2012 when the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois have some of the strictest gun laws in the country. Maybe it's just me.

Thanks Esblack. I am happy to report that it appears due to overwhelming opposition, much to Franks dismay, the Senate decided not to present the bills for a vote - they would not have passed and the liberal gun grabbing democrats would have suffered an embarrassing loss !! For now, Freedom Lives !!! Beware though, they will continue to try and chip away at our rights. We MUST stand fast and be vocal in our opposition to their freedom stealing efforts!!

Apparently, copy/paste spam lives too.

It has been determined that majorities of gun owners (81 percent), non-gun owners (58 percent), Democrats (58 percent), independents (72 percent) and Republicans (85 percent) say the people who do these kinds of drug induced murders “will always find the guns” to commit violent acts. No law will cover all aspects of life. Evil exists and it is up to all of us to resist. Be it a murderer or corrupt government.
The 2nd is in place to defend from both.

My understanding was that the village only bought it so they could split the back yard off from theRead More main lot use the back lot for some kind of village use with the rec center and then sell off the house. The original lot used to go all the way back to the rec center.

Fatness, the board section is meant for community members to enter their own announcements. HeadRead More over to the news section of the site if you're interested in other types of articles.
