Two LTHS Seniors Score Perfect ACTs

Two girls, from Indian Head Park and La Grange respectively, aced the college entrance exam with perfect 36’s.

Two members of the Lyons Township High School class of 2013 achieved perfect scores on their ACT college entrance exams this year, the Doings La Grange reports. According to the paper, Jaime Duncan of Indian Head Park and Rachel Adducci of La Grange each have achieved the top possible score of 36. LT earns a plaque for each student who achieves the milestone—as many as eight in 2010, and at least one every year since 2002, the paper said. “I was hoping to improve on that when I took the test again in June for the writing portion to apply to certain schools,” Duncan told the paper. “I went in with the mind set it’s important; I tried to do my best, and it worked out. LT Students Hit High Marks on Standardized Tests

Lyons Township High School students excelled recently at AP, ACT and SAT standardized tests.

Across the board, Lyons Township High School students have set new high marks in standardized testing. Students have met, or improved test scores on the ACT, SAT and Advanced Placement tests, according to LT officials. ACT On ACT tests, the class of 2011 was able to match the highest average score in the school's history, and the highest average scores in three out of four tested categories. The 2011 class was able to match a average score of 24.1, set by the class of 2009. The Illinois average was 20.9 on the ACT. The 2011 class also matched high scores in the areas of reading, science and math. Only the English score went unmatched, just missing the all-time high set in 2009. Andrew Karas Plans to Study Math and Science 'To Improve the World'

The incoming senior at Lyons Township High School scored a perfect 36 on the ACT with one try.

Summer held no break in mental stimuli for Andrew Karas. An enviromental policy internship left him inspired, an engineering camp excited him, and news he had achieved a perfect ACT score on his first try triggered a long sigh. "It was a relief that I didn't have to keep taking it," said the upbeat Karas. Karas, a 17-year-old incoming senior at Lyons Township High School, is one of eight students at the school this year to score a flawless mark, an uncommon feat. Last year, approximately 1,400 out of the 1.4 million students who took the 215-question college entrance exam, received 36, according to the ACT official Website.
