LT Students Take Trip to Argonne Labs to Encourage Women to Pursue Degrees in Science
Students from Lyons Township High School had the opportunity to attend lectures and get a tour at Argonne National Laboratory.
Students at Lyons Township High School with an interest in pursing degrees in chemistry, physics and biology got an opportunity to attend a special conference at Argonne National Laboratory recently that encouraged women to pursue degrees in the hard sciences. LT science teacher Carol Promisel and six students attended the conference, Science Careers in Search of Women, which focused on career opportunities for women in the science and technology fields. Only six students from each school were allowed to attend. In addition to attending lectures and touring Argonne Labs, students were able to complete career and leadership assessments and discuss cutting edge technology and research posters presented by women scientists and engineers.
