Tobolski Ready to Begin Work on Cook County Board

Defeated incumbent Tony Peraica said he hasn't ruled out running for public office in the future, but it won't be for a Cook County-wide seat.

Cook County Commissioner-elect Jeffrey Tobolski is ecstatic after unseating incumbent Commissioner Tony Peraica by just over 5,400 votes on Tuesday. Tobolski, a Democrat, said the voices of the people in the 16th District were clear when they said at the ballot box that they were "tired" of the Republican Peraica. "This district is heavily Republican, yet we won it. That shows the people are tired of Peraica and his failure to do anything for the district," Tobolski said Wednesday afternoon. One incident that may have damaged Peraica at the polls on Tuesday was Peraica's Saturday night arrest in the Village of McCook, where Tobolski is mayor.
